Wakeboarding in Rockport (09-02-06): These images were captured during a a few hours in Rockport. The Frierson family hosted a few friends for a weekend of fun along Copano Bay. I dropped by to deliver some photos to Will & Tommy and brought my old-school wakeboard with me. I hadn't been in the water in a while and it seemed like a good idea. The kids, all being surfers, loved the design and had a blast. Andrew dialed it in VERY quickly and was blasting airs immediately. I could only stay an hour or so (sorry Tommy) but came away with some great pictures. |

These photos were taken in the Piper Channel at Island Moorings on May 31, 2004. This was the LAST day to take my boat out, as I had to sell it the next day. We made the best of our last time out. It is too bad Jessica couldn't be with us.
The action was good and the lighting got wonderful in the late afternoon. Lance, John, Jamie, John and I had great runs and the lunch at the yacht club is something that we'll all miss as much as taking the boat out. |

These photos were shot near Marker 37, on the Intracoastal Canal. The John F. Kennedy bridge can be seen in the background. This weekend brought exteneded
family to town and I spent most of the day catering to my four young neices and teaching them the basics of wakeboarding and kneeboarding. Jamie and I squeezed in two runs each.
Unfortunately, there was no cameraman for my second run of the day. My first run was partially captured when I handed the camera over to my sister. This is a shame, as I had the
best session in my life - with more than wake-to-wake air (which says a lot for my Blue Wave boat). |

This wakeboarding excursion was an impromptu one. It's hard to believe we've only been out three times in the last two months. For this trip,
Jamie brought his latest toy... the "wake skate". This is a shorter, rounded nose wakeboard, with lots of rocker and NO bindings. It was easy
enough for Jamie to ride, but it was obvious that he wanted some air. This board is not only not attached when you are riding, but more importantly,
it is not attached when you are crashing either. This means that solid piece of edged fiberglass is tumbling with you. Important safety tip: gotta
guard the jewels when going down on this bad boy !! |

With all of the other activities happening literally every weekend, it had been over a month since we'd been in the water - which is WAY too long. For this excursion, it was just Jessica, Jamie and myself - along with the dogs. This was Fibi's first time on the boat (the little black & white border collie) and she handled it perfectly. Following the first runs for Jessica and Jamie, I decided to experiment with different camera angles - exterior to the boat. So, I got out and found a spot on the shore that afforded the best lighting conditions and let Jamie and Jessica haul each other around. This was also a first. Watching the offspring of my brother and I in, and behind, the boat filled my heart with pride. It's a father thing. This idea proved a sound one, and I got some terrific new photo angles. This activity was cut short when Jessica took a bad hop off of coverging wakes from a passing boat. She smacked the board in mid air and landed a bit twisted. She tweaked her knee and ankle, but it was just temporary. However, she was done for the day. Jamie then had to go to work, so I was once again left to have my turn behind the boat with no cameraman. Typical. No problem though - after four failed aerial helicopter spins (each resulting in a face-plant), I too was done for the day. |

The first of these images were taken on a rare almost glassy day in the Gulf of Mexico. We buzzed out to the nearby stand-pipes and found this huge jack-up rig attached to one of them. We drug bait around it for about 30 minutes and caught nothing. The rig looked too tempting not to wakeboard beneath, so I hopped in and had a quick "off-shore" session. Very rare. I don't think the crew on the rig had ever seen anything quite like THAT out there before. They were stoked! So were we. Jessica shot me with the fisheye lens, to capture the rig in the shots. From there, we went to our favorite spot in Port Aransas and had lunch, followed by another session in the afternoon. Jessica began trying an aerial 360 (helicopter spin) and we all had an excellent time. |

These images were taken at our favorite wakeboarding area in Port Aransas, Texas. I took my boat and was joined by Randy, Robin and Tyler Myers - along with my nephew, Jamie. We only got one session in, so there are just a few good photos. As is usually the case, nobody grabs the camera when I'm in the water. That's OK, better to focus on driving the boat !! |

These images were taken in the Ski Basin on Padre Island, Corpus Christi, Texas on May 3, 2003. Rich, an instructor pilot at NAS Corpus Christi, purchased this boat just a few weeks ago and it promises to further expenad the envelopes this summer! |

Wakeboarding 2002 Highlights (Jamie): These images were taken between the months of June and September of 2002. The action takes place near Port Aransas, Texas, which is a small beach community on South Padre Island (actually, a section of it called Mustang Island). The nearest metropolis is Corpus Christi. This is our stomping ground, our playpen, and our home. Life doesn't get much better than this. Jamie is my nephew. |
